The Department of Health has agreed to consider surveying community pharmacies to find out the impact of medicine supply shortages. The situation is so important that the All Party Pharmacy Group has held an enquiry on it, although the Government has not responded to the issue. Recently, a Chemist and Drugist survey has found that more than 140 pharmacists had seen a patient’s health suffer as a result of the medicine supply shortage. MP Huw Irranca-Davies, who has been pressing the issue, has been trying to keep the issue up on the Government’s agenda and has hailed this decision as a vital breakthrough. He has urged pharmacists to write to their MPs to keep the pressure on the Government to undertake the survey.
